"BEST OF" COMPETITION

TASTE. Chandler’s Culinary Festival is introducing the BEST OF TASTE Restaurant Competition in 2010. Since TASTE features Chandler’s finest restaurants of all different categories, this year will allow one restaurant in each category to be awarded for their delicious cuisine. Restaurants are encouraged to create a booth and sample a dish that best represents their restaurant, a dish that will tempt attendees to go in and try the full entrée, the BEST OF TASTE will reward a restaurant in each category with the best presentation and dish and overall representation of the restaurant. Categories

• Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, American, Asian, Indian

• Restaurants are automatically registered to be a part of the BEST OF TASTE Restaurant contest, and will be categorized in the above categories. Display signs will be provided to educate attendees on category.
• Restaurants do have the option to opt out of the contest, and will not be considered in the final count.
• Restaurants will be judged on dish overall taste, originality and uniqueness, presentation, and booth appearance. With events, people create emotional association with all of these qualities, so we will just be tapping into their experience.
• Event promoters and partners are not responsible for guest choice or samples and voting.

1. (50%) Contest will be judged by local media personalities, online blog writers, and key members of the community. Identities of judges will be kept confidential.
2. (50%) People Choice will also be utilized in the contest, allowing attendees to submit a ballot at the end of the event voting for their favorite restaurant.

Scoring

1. Judges:
2. There will be a specific number of judges for each category that will be responsible for rating the restaurants in that category ONLY.
3. Each judge will be provided a score card with weighted rates:
1. Overall Taste (appropriateness, balance, flavors, effective combinations, etc)
2. Originality in Category (creativity in applications, flavors usage, and overall category representation)
3. Presentation (sample image, sensory satisfaction)
4. Booth Display
4. Peoples Choice
   1. Attendees will receive a vote card with a list of categories, and will be encouraged to fill out their favorite restaurant in each category, and turn in before exiting the event.

1. The winning restaurant in each category will be chosen based off the combined total of the judges results and the People’s Choice results. There will be one winning restaurant in each category, and the winners will be announced the following Monday after the event.

1. Each winning restaurant will receive a plaque to be displayed in their business.
2. A press release announcing all the winners will be distributed the following week to local media, websites, and all event vendors, sponsors, and restaurants.
3. Winners will be listing on tatsechandler.com.
4. Each restaurant will be guaranteed recognition in local newspaper.
